Overview

POSITION PURPOSE:

This position is responsible for delivery and application of fertilizer products as well as equipment and grounds maintenance.

 

SCHEDULE:

This is a days position, typically M - F, but will vary depending on the season or as required.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Class A CDL, DOT Medical Card and Tanker Endorsement required

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Must be self-motivated and show a willingness to learn
  • Some computer knowledge (Microsoft Office and computer-based training)
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Ability to professionally interact and communicate with others
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Mechanical aptitude and/or a willingness to learn how to troubleshoot mechanical issues
  • Use of required personal protective equipment
  • Ability to work long hours in peak seasons in all types of weather conditions
  • Working around large manufacturing machines and equipment
  • Thorough knowledge of fertilizer application processes
  • Must have an excellent driving record

 

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Fast paced ag services environment working onsite and in the field.  May perform activities in an environment containing hazardous elements and requiring safety awareness and adherence to all safety policies and guidelines.  Work must be performed in a safe manner for personal protection and for the protection of other team members.  All safety, environmental and quality procedures (SOPs, JHAs, and ISO standards) in all functional areas must be strictly complied with.  Work is primarily done outside in the elements.  Snow removal, mowing, field application, grounds maintenance, and equipment maintenance may require varying schedules during peak seasons.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Sitting, standing, walking, repetitive use of hands/arms/legs, and eye/hand coordination for 4+ hours a day
  • Occasional bending, reaching overhead, crouching, balancing, pushing or pulling
  • Occasional lifting of 50 lbs. or less, occasional need to lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Ability to operate general manufacturing/ag powered equipment, vehicles and tools

Responsibilities

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Safety, Environmental, & Quality Compliance

  • Utilize safe work habits and follow all policies and procedures
  • Make sound decisions while not compromising safety, environmental or quality standards
  • Assist with audits as required
  • Turn in any hazards as they are identified to get them corrected as soon as possible
  • Attend regularly scheduled training sessions to stay current on all compliance initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with all governmental regulations and policies
  • Assist in DOT annual safety inspections
  • Comply with all DOT standards/requirements to include record keeping

Application of CMS and Equipment and Truck Maintenance

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot & correct any issues when they develop outside of normal operating conditions performing light maintenance as necessary
  • Transport loads of CMS to customer sites and apply as instructed
  • Communicate any equipment issues or application issues to management in a timely fashion
  • Complete daily tank level inspections
  • Work with appropriate people to source parts as needed for inside service and repair
  • Perform inside service and repair of machines and trucks
  • Assist other areas of the plant with outside truck driving needs as needed
  • Pick up and deliver raw materials to the plant
  • Assist with tank transportation for wholesalers

Grounds/Facility Maintenance

  • Perform upkeep on facility grounds to include mowing, trimming, and spraying
  • Perform building painting and repair
  • Maintain driveways and parking areas
  • Perform minor maintenance to facility buildings and infrastructure

Continuous Improvement & Collaboration

  • Suggest/implement process improvement, cost down, or best practice ideas
  • Continually strive for increasing processing efficiencies
  • Complete 5S activities to keep the work area clean and organized
  • Assist with plant cleaning activities

Salary Range

$24/hour or more based on experience.
