Overview

Are you ready to jumpstart your career? Are you interested in working on fast-paced projects to solve the challenges of some of the biggest food companies in the industry? At Ajinomoto Health & Nutrition North America, we are pioneering the science of well-being through the power of amino acids and our Scientific & Regulatory Affairs (SRA) team is looking for ambitious and dynamic talent to join us for a ten-week summer internship!

 

Working alongside members of our Scientific & Regulatory Affairs team, you will contribute a fresh perspective to the development of innovative solutions for Ajinomoto’s customers. You will be responsible for providing technical support to our internal teams, updating documents and files, and maintaining libraries and SharePoint sites across our diverse portfolio of savory, sweetener, and soup/stock ingredients.

This is an in-person internship, located in our state-of-the-art corporate headquarters, kitchen and laboratory in Itasca, IL.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Completed Junior-level or higher Bachelor of Science in food science or adjacent fields such as chemistry, biology, and nutrition.
  • A passion to learn and grow within the food industry. Working knowledge of food science, food manufacturing, or quality assurance principles a plus. Self-motivated with strong organizational skills. Experience with Microsoft Office programs. Capability to understand basic food regulations (FDA, USDA). Demonstrated ability to work well independently with minimal supervision; actively seeks guidance when needed to maintain progress on assignments.        

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements

OCCUPATIONAL DEMANDS & WORKING CONDITIONS:

Effectively collaborate with cross-functional team members (customer service, quality, R&D, supply chain, etc.) to complete customer requests.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be safety oriented. May be asked to travel occasionally.

Responsibilities

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with populating the SRA FAQ SharePoint site, which provides regulatory answers to the marketing, sales, and R&D teams.
  • Provide regulatory support in the form of ingredient and label review for new products developed for IFT.
  • Assist with entering and reviewing data for the new PLM system as relevant to the SRA team
  • Understand our internal process for creating documentation and filing data
  • Attend new product meetings to understand the regulatory functions of developing finished products
  • Assist with completing customer questionnaires/customer documentation requests.

Salary Range

$20.00- $25.00
