Overview

The Company Driver is responsible for coordinating and executing all daily shipping and receiving activities between the Ajinomoto-Akron manufacturing facility and the nearby warehouse (approximately 10 miles apart). This role ensures the safe, timely, and accurate transport of finished goods, raw materials, and packaging materials using the company truck. The position also supports local pick-ups and deliveries from area suppliers as required and assists with general production and inventory control activities within the plant.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• CDL-B License.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Required:
• Prior experience driving commercial or industrial trucks (non-CDL class C or equivalent).
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate shipping/receiving documentation.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Preferred:
• Experience operating pallet jacks, forklifts, or other material-handling equipment.
• Familiarity with food-manufacturing environments and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices).
• Basic knowledge of inventory systems and logistics workflows. Work in accordance with, and supports, Ajinomoto-Akron Standard Operating Procedures as outlined in the HACCP, SSOP and Quality manuals.

 

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements

WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Full-time, on-site position.
• Typical schedule: Monday through Friday, day shift. Occasional weekend or off-shift hours may be required based on production or logistics needs.
• Local driving only (no overnight or over-the-road travel).

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Ability to lift / move up to 50 lbs and work in warehouse and production environments.

 

Responsibilities

• Report to the Ajinomoto-Akron plant site daily to pick up and return the company truck.
• Transport finished goods, raw materials, and packaging between the Ajinomoto-Akron plant and warehouse in a safe and timely manner.
• Receive goods from outside vendors or the warehouse, perform put-away in proper storage locations, and maintain FIFO (First In – First Out) rotation.
• Maintain accurate and complete documentation (receivers, packing slips, verification of lot numbers) in accordance with Ajinomoto-Akron procedures.
• Prepare all outbound shipments, including locating, wrapping, labeling each pallet with lot numbers, and verifying accuracy against the Bill of Lading.
• Perform warehouse pick-ups and deliveries as scheduled or directed by supervisors
• Assist with periodic inventory cycle counts and reconciliation of materials stored at the plant.
• Follow all site and corporate safety standards, including proper equipment use and PPE requirements.
• Comply with all Ajinomoto-Akron policies, procedures, and quality assurance protocols.
• Support company initiatives, continuous improvement programs, and team objectives as assigned.
• Perform other relevant duties, with proper training, as assigned by Supply Chain and operations.

Salary Range

$22.00 - $28.00/hour
